To those who missed the July 2009 issue of Reader’s Digest, you may read my true story online. Originally entitled Writing From The Gut, this summarized narrative carries the reason behind my obsession with all things food and why:

- I hate it when food goes to waste
- I like to feed people, stray dogs and birds (and would rather give my restaurant leftovers to cab drivers and street kids — ssshhh! )
- I was always underweight
- I believe in miracles
- I learned to live with no regrets
- I know that God is the master plotmaker/storyteller
- I really have this website, to celebrate life.

To all those who shared the love – family, friends and strangers, I have saved all your email, text and web messages. Thank you; they will always keep me inspired.

Souvenir (fan) pic : Meeting Alice Cruz for the first time, who said she read the story every night and cried every single time. Aw. And to Joy Subido, one of my favorite food writers who I rarely run into, I will always remember the hug, you sweet girl!

Lastly, to the editor and staff of Reader’s Digest.
